Our fees for an assessment and report by a consultant psychiatrist with forensic experience are:
Fee: £220.00 per hour
Travelling time: £110.00 per hour
For preparation of report £50
Indicative totals are show below (these amounts will vary from case to case and solicitors should ask for an estimate for each individual client):
£1,870 for interviewing client, interviewing another informant if necessary, reading up to 3 ring binders of statements, preparing a report, and issuing a report. This fee includes reasonable revisions to the report following discussion with the client, yourself, or other relevant, interested parties but does not cover the cost of dealing with new evidence, new instructions, or new questions. It also include 3 hours of document reading or other research.
£2,090 for the above but including reading up to 6 ring-binders of files.
£440 for preparing a supplementary report in response to further questions by yourself
Please note:
These fees do not include court attendance and are quoted on the assumption that attendance at court will not be necessary. If you think attendance is required, please let us know before we agree terms. No medico-legal work can be undertaken without a letter of instruction from a solicitor, and confirmation from a solicitor that funding has been approved by the LSC [if appropriate].
Travel:
In addition to the above fees, time spent in essential travelling will be charged at £110 per hour, and road mileage will be charged according to the Inland Revenue standard rates (currently 40p per mile). Travel by rail will be charged at first class rates.
Estimate of fees:
An estimate of fees will be provided at the start of each case, and agreed before work commences. Although our fees are above the rates normally granted by the Legal Services Commission, they have been granted in the past on special application by solicitors.
Invoices are payable within 30 days of being submitted, irrespective of whether or not payment has been received by the solicitor from their client or from the Legal Services Commission.
